Nowadays, architecture has experienced significant advancements, particularly in its interpretation. It is no longer perceived merely as buildings and structures, but has expanded to encompass landscapes and larger environments, even to the scale of cities and regions.Traditionally, as a derivative of culture, architecture has been closely linked to three elements: artefacts, value systems, and user activities. Without one of these elements, architecture would merely be a discourse without application. Architecture requires physical artifacts as a container, as well as human creativity to transform mere space into place. The value systems contained within then become the distinguishing factor, guiding users and appreciators of architecture on how to appreciate a work of living architecture. This is why, in this book, architecture is presented in many dimensions, which might seem unusual to some. There are several sections that discuss artifacts in general, while others focus on activities in urban spaces, ranging from cycling, taking selfies for media content, to warfare in underground tunnels. All these aspects reflect the role of architecture as a medium for creating spaces that evoke emotional responses from the users of those spaces and places. The discussions in this book are brief, only two pages per topic. This is because the book contains notes made by the author, most of which were used in the coverage of the UWORLD programme, a 25 miutes English news service on the private television station UTV, owned by Universitas Komputer Indonesia. The sources of images and news are taken and inspired by YouTube broadcasts from both international news channels and information and education channels. Hopefully this modest book will be useful, whether for those interested in architecture and places, or for those who simply want to enjoy light reading in English.
